Gifts Through Wills

Bequests to the West Chester University Foundation are the most common of estate gifts. There are numerous types of bequests, which can be tailored to specific family situations and charitable desires.

Outright Bequest
The specified property passes directly to the Foundation after your death and is directed to your designated purpose immediately. An outright bequest may be in the form of a stated dollar amount, a specific property, a percentage of your estate or a percentage of the residue of your estate.

Residuary Bequest
After all specified payments are made to other beneficiaries, the Foundation will receive a percentage or all of the residue.

Contingent Bequest
The WCU Foundation is the beneficiary should your other beneficiaries predecease you.

Deferred Bequest
A method of:

  • Providing economic security to a family member for his/her lifetime by establishing a charitable remainder unitrust or charitable gift annuity of which he/she is beneficiary; and

  • Benefiting the program of your choice at the University.

  • OR

  • Providing a charitable gift to the University for a specified period of time by establishing a charitable lead trust; and

  • Transferring assets to specified family members in order to reduce estate tax burden.
