The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) is offering a Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program (VRIP). The Voluntary Retirement Incentive Program offers monetary incentives for eligible employees who choose to retire.

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible to participate in this program you must:
  • Be an active, full-time, permanent employee.
  • Be at least 60 years of age as of the date of retirement OR have a minimum of 35 years of credited service as of the date of retirement.
  • Be eligible for majority paid annuitant health care coverage as of June 18, 2010.
  • Be in one of the following groups: AFSCME, OPEIU, PSSU, Management, SCUPA or SPFPA.

What are the Monetary Incentives?

  • 13 to 15 years of service
    10% of annual base salary with a minimum of $6,000 and a maximum of $10,000
  • more than 15 years of service to 20 years of service
    20% of annual base salary with a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $20,000
  • more than 21 years of service
    30% of annual base salary with a minimum of $14,000 and a maximum or $30,000

* Monetary incentive based on credited service as of June 18, 2010.
* Not all bargaining units are eligible for each tier. Refer to a VRIP Information Session for specific incentives.

Important Dates

Acceptance period will run from March 29, 2010 through May 28, 2010.

Separation must occur between June 18, 2010 and August 27, 2010.
