ANNOUNCEMENT: All PASSHE institutions will be upgrading to Brightspace by D2L version 10.4 on Saturday, May 9th, and will require D2L to be offline between 12:01am - 12:00pm.

Faculty who wish to work on grades during this downtime should view the PDF for Exporting / Importing Gradebook , or contact D2L Services to learn how to work offline with D2L.

Desire2Learn has altered their company name from Desire2Learn to simply, “D2L.” The name Desire2Learn will be phased out over the next 6 months. D2L also named their collection of educational tools, which includes their Learning Environment, e-Portfolio, Insights, Degree Campus, etc. to "Brightspace by D2L."

What does this mean for faculty and students at West Chester? Not too much, but you may begin to notice references to Brightspace and the Brightspace Community in upcoming documentation. For more information regarding these changes, please watch the official announcement by the President and CEO of D2L, John Baker.

WCU D2L Services Office

D2L is the learning management system used by WCU to support online education for faculty and students.

For assistance, please come to the D2L Services office located in Anderson Hall, Room 2 Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm where staff will be available to provide expert support for D2L related issues in person or by phone (610) 436-3350 ext. 2, email, or ticket.

    • Faculty and students can contact a Brightspace by D2L representative at 1-877-325-7778.

D2L Internet Browser Recommendation

D2L Services recommends the use of Mozilla Firefox when working in the D2L environment. You can download Mozilla Firefox by visiting the Firefox website. If you are using Internet Explorer or Safari, you may experience issues when working within D2L.

Students should NOT use mobile devices (i.e. iPad, iPhone, Android devices, etc.) when submitting assignments or taking quizzes in D2L..

D2L Monthly Maintenance

Please be advised that the D2L Hosting Facility performs scheduled server maintenance between 1:00AM and 7:00AM on the 2nd Sunday of every month. During this time, the system will not be available. Please try to access the site again at 7:01am EST, or shortly after. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail.
