The Office of Cultural Affairs enhances West Chester University's role as a regional center for the performing and visual arts through a multitude of programs.
The Visiting Artist Series presents the best of touring international artists in the Contemporary Series, the Classical Series, and the Family Series.
The Philips Lecture Series features a wide array of prominent scholars, statesmen and scientists. Past lecturers included Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee, William F. Buckley, Jaime Escalante and Elie Wiesel.
The Cultural Events Calendar is where you can find information on the rich diversity of cultural events that the university has to offer. The calendar includes performances by the Dance Department, Theatre Department, concerts by the School of Music, and exhibits hosted by the Art Department. The calendar also features performances by community-based organizations that utilize the university’s facilities. Such organizatons include the Brandywine Ballet, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Chester County, and the Kennett Symphony of Chester County.
The Permanent Art Collection maintains the university’s vast art collection which includes many Pre-Columbian works.
The Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall is West Chester University’s newly renovated 1,200 seat theatre. The 2000 - 2001 season featured 87 performances with over 42,000 in attendance.
