Only three Pennsylvania universities are on this year's Kiplinger's Personal Finance list of the 100 best values in public higher education, and West Chester University is one. Kiplinger’s recognizes four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value.
Kiplinger's evaluates data from nearly 600 schools using Peterson's Undergraduate Database. Their formula: 45 percent cost factors, 55 percent quality factors. Their measurable standards of quality include the admission rate; the percentage of students who return for sophomore year; the student-faculty ratio; and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include low sticker prices; abundant financial aid; and low average debt at graduation.
West Chester is among the top 20 schools on the list when assessed by cost for both in-state and out-of-state students.
