10-21 Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Special Education

West Chester Universitys Department of Special Education invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Special Education. This position is available starting in August 2010 and involves teaching assignments in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Success in the position requires excellence in teaching, scholarly growth, a commitment to university/community service. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. West Chester is the second largest university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education with an enrollment of approximately 14, 000 students. It is located 25 miles west of Philadelphia.

Responsibilities: Include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in special education, advising students, and supervision of student teachers and/or field experiences.

Requirements: Doctorate in special education or closely related field preferred. ABD with completion of all degree requirements by December 2010 will be considered. At least 3 years pre-K/12 teaching experience and certification are required. Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience preferred. Candidates with experience working with diverse populations, expertise in technology, and ability to develop and teach distance education (online) courses are preferred. Finalists must successfully complete interview process and teaching demonstration.
