I served in the Air Force for eight years.  Prior to exiting the military, I served as Deputy Chief of Minority Enrollment at the United States Air Force Academy.  I continued to work at the college level outside of the military and, most recently, directed and administered career counseling and academic support services at the Stark County Community Action Agency in Ohio.  As the Veterans Center Coordinator, I am responsible for overseeing WCU’s veteran student services.  I am a liaison between WCU and the Department of Veteran's Administration (DVA).  I guide and mentor prospective and enrolled student veterans and eligible family members through all phases of their university career in areas specific to their needs.  If I can help in any way, feel free to contact me at lmorrison@wcupa.edu or via phone at 610.436.2862.  My office is located in the Veterans Center. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

  • Short description of the issue

I served in the US military from 1984 to 2006 as a Marine Reservist and Army National Guard. I was mobilized in 2004 and wounded in 2005 by an Improvised Explosive Device near Tikrit, Iraq while operating on Route Clearance working as a Combat Engineer Platoon Leader. I have a balance of enlisted and officer service time that I will cherish forever. I am enrolled in the Masters of Social Work Program at WCUPA via the Veterans Administration Vocational Rehabilitation Program (VRE).  I am still recovering from my injuries and combat stress related to my war service. During recovery, I published a book in 2011 titled Service and Sacrifice, Memories of Operation Iraqi Freedom with a Veterans Mental Health and Resource Guide. I worked from 2013-2014 as a Case Manager for Homeless Veterans, many of which suffered from Substance Use Disorder. I live locally and have a wonderful family with children in college. I’m here now for you at the WCUPA Veterans Center as a resource to address multiple needs, conflicts and issues. I’m confident I can find the help you need to succeed.

I am a Navy Reserve Captain, JAGC, retired, licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania. I served on active duty during Desert Storm and had overseas assignments in Suriname, El Salvador, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Germany during my career.   I am pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and plan to continue to serve Veterans either through the VA or Wounded Warrior Project upon graduation. I am here to assist Lillian and to help you and your eligible family members through mentoring and by identifying the opportunities and resources that are available for you to be successful in your studies here at West Chester University and for your career after graduation.
