Skip has served as the Director of the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center (formerly the Office of Multicultural Affairs) since April 1992. Prior to coming to WCU, he served for four years in a similar capacity at The State University of New York at Albany. A native of Delaware, he is a 1978 graduate of Salisbury University in Maryland, a product of the Student Personnel in Higher Education graduate program at The Ohio State University, and is a US Navy veteran. At WCU he serves on several university committees including the Campus Climate Intervention Team; the Council on Diversity, Inclusion and Academic Excellence; and the Athletics Advisory Board.
Jairo is currently the Interim Associate Director of the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center. He graduated from West Chester University in 2011 with a B.S. in Business Management. While enrolled at the university as an undergraduate, he was involved in the Multicultural Center through their Peer Mentoring Program as a mentee and later on as a Peer Mentor. Prior to attending Graduate School at WCU in the fall of 2014, Jairo held an internship at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and worked in management positions at Enterprise and Geico. In the fall of 2015, he became the Graduate Assistant for the Multicultural Center and later on graduated with a M.P.A in May of 2016. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Jairo enjoys competing in long distance runs and spin class when he is not at work.
Angela Garrett has been employed at West Chester University since November 2, 2015 as the Secretary to the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center (formerly the Office of Multicultural Affairs). She is also a graduate of West Chester University with a degree in Business Management/Public Affairs. Along with her husband and children, she was a long term resident of West Chester, PA since 1996.
Angela was previously employed at the Chester County Domestic Relations office as a Hearing Officer and Enforcement Officer for 7 years prior to moving to Illinois with her husband due to job relocation. Upon her return to the West Chester, PA area she became her father’s caregiver. Angela currently resides in Newtown Square, PA. She enjoys assisting and encouraging the students in the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center, spending quality time with her family and vacationing at the beach. She’s a member of the Christian Faith Fellowship church where she serves on the Financial Ministry team.
