Adapted Physical Activities Club

The Adapted Physical Activities Club brings together students interested in the field of adapted physical education, support adapted P.E. programs on campus, and raise awareness for adapted physical education and people with disabilities on campus.

Helping American Heroes

Helping American Heroes supports service members, who are defined as active/retired military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency service personnel, nurses, teachers, and other first responders. They host awareness events, write letters to the military, and much more!

A Chorus Line Company

A Chorus Line Company provides an opportunity for West Chester’s singers and musicians to collaborate, encourage and invest in one another through regular rehearsal, critique, and performance of Broadway style music.

Abbé Society

The Abbé Society is an honorary service organization that awards membership to women who demonstrate and strive to uphold the qualities of friendship, leadership, and character through continuous service to the West Chester University campus and the surrounding community. The society, established in 1959, invites women who are leaders on campus and in the community.

Accounting — Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi, an honor organization for financial information students and professionals, aims to encourage the study and practice of accountancy, finance, and information systems; provide opportunities for service, professional development, and interaction among members and financial professionals; and fosters lifelong ethical, social, and public responsibilities.

Accounting Society

The Accounting Society provides information sessions and networking opportunities to prepare accounting students for upcoming internships and post-college employment. They also help prepare you for the CPA, giving you a general over view of what it is, and how many credits you need to prepare you.

Actuary Society of West Chester University

The Actuary Society of West Chester University helps to prepare students for SOA/CAS preliminary examinations, provide a forum, platform, and events for professional development, and promote diversity within the field of actuarial science.

AFRISA (African Student Association)

AFRISA seeks to increase the level of consciousness regarding African American culture to the student population at West Chester University and address issues affecting Africa.

Alchemist Club

The Alchemist Club encourages an insight into chemistry on an informal level and works to further students’ passion for chemistry through field trips, films, and lectures.

Allied Health — Alpha Eta

The purpose of the society shall be the promotion and recognition of significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions.

Alpha Gamma Omega

Alpha Gamma Omega provides fellowship for its student members centered upon the Biblical Christian faith in Jesus through social, religious, academic, and philanthropic activities.

Alpha Phi Omega

Omicron Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity is open to all men and women of the campus community. This national fraternity is dedicated to developing leadership and providing an opportunity for its members to serve their University and community. Omicron Upsilon Chapter conducts numerous service-oriented activities at West Chester.

Alzheimer’s Foundation of America

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America provides resources for students affected by the disease, provides further information regarding various memory –loss related diseases, and serves as an advocacy organization.

American Choral Directors Association

The American Choral Directors Association fosters and promotes choral singing which provides artistic and spirited experiences for participants.

American Marketing Association

American Marketing Association is a organization at WCU to help students get connected with marketing organizations, work on professional development and gain internship opportunities! We invite companies to come out and speak to us about themselves and teach us about the world of marketing.

American Medical Women's Association

The American Medical Women’s Association brings together those in the medicine and health related fields to promote women’s health and to support members’ professional and personal development.

American Sign Language Club

The American Sign Language Club works to provide an opportunity for WCU students to learn, understand, and share their interest in ASL and Deaf culture.

American Society of Mirobiology of West Chester University, Student Branch

The American Society of Microbiology promote student interest in Microbiology and Immunology and further improve the quality of the Microbiology concentration at West Chester University, provide aid for students in the program with respect to academic curriculum and research, and promote student participation in local, state, and national ASM meetings.

American String Teachers’ Association

The American String Teachers’ Association works to promote a greater interest and participation in string and orchestra playing at the elementary, middle, high school, and collegiate levels, by creating a partnership with local music programs.

Animal Behavior Club

The goal of the Animal Behavior Club is to give a place to facilitate the learning of Animal Behavior by volunteer work, presenters, research, and fieldwork

Anime Club

The Anime Club aims to educate students about the art of anime through social interaction and the screening of its diverse videos and promotes the enjoyment and entertainment of anime. It provides a medium where students can share their enjoyment of anime with others and learn something from each other about culture and ethnic awareness through the features of films.

Anthropology – Lambda Alpha Nu

Lambda Alpha supports scholarship and research by acknowledging and honoring superior achievement in the discipline among students engaged in the study of anthropology.

Anthropology Club

Anthropology Club is a social and academic club for majors, minors, and anyone with a curiosity or interest in anthropology! We seek to provide interesting lectures and special events related to anthropology for the entire West Chester University community. Anthropology Club meets weekly, but also invites its members for trips to museums, conventions, and festivities in the Philadelphia region and beyond.

Arabic Club

The Arabic Club is a balance between culture, language, and family. You do not need to know Arabic to be a part of this club but you must come with an open mind and a love for different cultures. Our club will have events such as Arabic movie nights, Arab food nights, and different fund raisers for future endeavors. Come join the Arab family on campus!

Armenian Student Association

The purpose of this organization is to cultivate a true understanding and appreciation of Armenian culture, heritage, and history through cultural, educational, and social activities.

Art – Kappa Pi

The purpose of this Fraternity will be to form bodies of representative students who will, by their influence and artistic interests, uphold the highest ideals of a liberal education; to provide a means whereby students with artistic commitment meet for the purpose of informal study and communication; to raise the standards of productive artistic work among the students in the colleges and universities; to furnish the highest reward for conscientious effort in furthering the best interest of art in the broadest sense of the term, by election to membership in the Fraternity, based upon such meritorious work.

Art Club

The Art Club welcomes all students who are interested in art and participates in activities such as trips to art museums, holding an art show, collaboration with other groups on campus, and community service.

Asian Student Association

The Asian Student Association promotes cultural awareness by exploring a variety of Asian cultures and language, bridging the gap between Western and Eastern cultures.

Association for Women’s Empowerment

The Association for Women’s Empowerment is an organization that serves the student population as a support, discussion, action, and education organization. Our purpose is to inform the student population about women’s issues and related topics.

Association of Black Social Workers

The Association of Black Social Workers aims to create an atmosphere wherein academic and professional excellence can coincide with minority interests and moral principles, providing a structure and forum through which members disseminate and exchange information regarding minority concerns in the field of social work and around the West Chester community.

Astronomy Club

The Astronomy Club helps to encourage and assist students interested in astronomy to develop the knowledge, competence, enthusiasm, and social responsibility that are essential to the advancement of astronomy

Autism Speaks U

Autism Speaks works to engage the campus and local community through awareness, education, and fundraising to positively affect the lives of those struggling with autism spectrum disorders and their families.

B.O.D.Y. Peace

The purpose of B.O.D.Y. Peace is to promote positive body image and self-esteem to the West Chester University campus and broader community.

Best Buddies

Best Buddies seeks to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Promoting inclusion on campus, college students are matched with persons who have disabilities, creating an enriching friendship together. Join our club to have a blast at holiday parties, seasonal activities, bowling, game nights, Buddy Ball, and much more!

Black Men United

Black Men United works to empower and enrich the West Chester University community both culturally and educationally through community service, involvement on campus, and education of issues concerning African American Men.

Black Student Union

The Black Student Union is committed to its goals of fostering better human relations and understanding among all members of the college community, raising the level of consciousness about the African American experience in the West Chester community, and remaining inclusive and open to all students regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.

Bollywood Dance Club

KSTAN Bollywood Dance Club provides a platform to anybody who wants to groove to Bollywood music.

Bowling Club

The goal of the WCU Bowling Club is to encourage and develop bowling skills and make bowling leagues and tournaments available to those students who are interested.

Bridges International

The student-led movement seeks to introduce students to Christ, help them to grow in faith, encourage them to passionately live life in a manner consistent with the belief in the God of the Bible, and inspire commitment to advancing the purpose of God in the world.

Bringing Hope Home

Members of Bringing Hope Home provide “unexpected amazingness to local families with cancer in the Greater Philadelphia Area through financial and emotional support.”

Business – Beta Gamma Sigma

The Mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to cultivate and celebrate leadership and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.

CALYPSO (Caribbean Americans Leading Young Professionals Student Organization)

CALYPSO serves as a student organization dedicated to raising the level of consciousness about the Caribbean Islands and its culture throughout the West Chester community.

Catholic Newman Student Association

The Catholic Newman Student Association initiates, fosters, and develops faith based relationships with and among students. The CNSA is faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church as safeguarded by the Magisterium of the Church.

Cello Ensemble

The Cello Ensemble upholds a dedication to researching and performing works for cello ensemble, provides opportunities for West Chester University students to enhance their musical and educational growth, fosters a strong sense of mutual respect and support, and promotes a musical repertory that has been neglected.

CHAARG

CHAARG stands for ‘Changing Health, Attitudes and Actions to Recreate Girls’ and was established to provide students on campus with a supportive environment that promotes a happy and healthy lifestyle utilizing resources on and around campus.

Chemistry – Gamma Sigma Epsilon

Gamma Sigma Epsilon is a national chemistry honor society founded in 1919 at Davidson College. The original fraternity was created to promote academic excellence and undergraduate research scholarship in chemistry. In 1931 the fraternity went co-ed and became an honor society.

Chinese Club

The Chinese Club aims to learn, teach, and practice the Chinese Language, to learn about past and present cultures of China, and engage in cultural activities to increase cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Chorus Line Company

A Chorus Line Company provides an opportunity for West Chester’s singers and musicians to collaborate, encourage and invest in one another through regular rehearsal, critique, and performance of Broadway style music.

Circle K International

Started in the fall of 1994, Circle K is an international service organization focusing on service, leadership, and fellowship. It is the college version of the Key Club, which exists in many high schools and is supported by the Kiwanis Club of West Chester. On a local level, it is a great opportunity to serve the community in many different ways as members gain leadership skills and have a lot of fun in the process. There is also the opportunity to be connected on an international level and therefore participate in larger group activities, district conventions, and more.

Climbing Team of WCU

The Climbing Team aims to create a group of members all with a passion for climbing to grow in their abilities and compete as well as climb for fun.

College Democrats

College Democrats meet every Thursday at 7:15pm in the Business Building room 116. This organization is a good place to discuss current events, find volunteer opportunities, enjoy free pizza, and make new friends!

College Republicans

College Republicans make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party, aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of office, and develop the political skills of College Republican members for future service to the party and community.

Colleges Against Cancer

Colleges Against Cancer helps to raise awareness and money on the WCU campus in an effort to help support research and programs provided by the American Cancer Society. This is accomplished through cancer education programs, fundraising, public relations, entertainment, and relay for life.

Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization

CEO is the premier collegiate entrepreneurship network and works to inform, support, and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seel opportunity through enterprise creation.

Communication Studies - Pi Kappa Delta

Pi Kappa Delta is a national forensics honorary that is dedicated to promoting excellence in speech and debate. In addition to its civic engagement and advocacy activities, Pi Kappa Delta hosts a comprehensive national tournament each year, sponsors a professional development conference and publishes a scholarly journal (The Forensic), as well as a quarterly newsletter (The Key).

Communications - Lambda Pi Eta

The goals of Lambda Pi Eta include recognizing, fostering, and rewarding outstanding scholastic achievement in Communication Studies; stimulating interest in the field of Communication; promoting and encouraging professional development among Communication majors; providing an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of Communication; establishing and maintaining closer relationships between faculty and students; and exploring options for graduate education in Communication Studies

Computer Science – Upsilon Pi Epsilon

The mission of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Computing and Information Disciplines.

Computer Science Club

The goal of the Computer Science Club is to allow members to expand their knowledge of computer science by providing tutoring, equipment, and experience. Computer Science Club intends to support the pursuit of computer science knowledge by its members, aid in career advancement by sharing internship opportunities and other events, and foster a community among computer science majors at West Chester University.

Council for Exceptional Children

The WCU Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children is committed to making our campus and community a more welcoming place for individuals with disabilities through education, advocacy, and active participation in events that are inclusive of all.

Creative Writing Club

The Creative Writing Club provides all students interested in creative writing with the opportunity to improve their abilities as writers in a positive and nurturing environment.

Criminal Justice – Alpha Phi Sigma

The goals of Alpha Phi Sigma are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity.

Criminal Justice Student Association

The Criminal Justice Student Association promote professional, academic, and public awareness of criminal justice issues, encourage the expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice, and promote high standards of ethical conduct within the criminal justice field.

Crossfit Club

The CrossFit Club at West Chester strives to have a collegiate CrossFit Club at West Chester aimed at advancing members overall functional fitness in a fun, competitive, and safe environment at a very affordable price for students.

CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ)

Cru is a caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ through programming, events, and seminars. Our goal is to foster authentic relationships through meeting together often and sharing in experiences that excite and challenge beyond the typical college experience.

Dance .Rules. Everything. Around. Me Dance Team

D.R.E.A.M. provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with other on-campus organizations by expressing their passion for hip-hop dance through performance and entertainment.

Dance Team – Women

The WCU Dance Team is primarily a student run dance organization that performs at the men’s basketball games, homecoming, and various other campus events.

Darlington Biology Society (Biology Club)

The Darlington Biology Society (Bio Club) promotes scholarship through participation in field trips, lectures, research, elementary education programs, volunteer programs, and various activities relating to Biology. Open to all majors!

Diabetes Awareness Club

Diabetes Awareness at WCU provides students an opportunity to expand their knowledge in one of the major leading causes of death in America and help educate and empower the community about diabetes through semester long campaigns and local community outreach.

EARTH (Environmental Association for Repairing of The Habitat)

EARTH educates and shares with students and members in the community an awareness of the environment around them and how/why they should protect it.

Earth and Space Science Club

The Earth and Space Science Club is for anyone who is interested in the outdoors and learning about our Earth! Our goal is to foster growth of Earth and Space Science knowledge within the University community and to promote positive interactions amongst students and faculty. The club meets weekly in Merion and meets up on many other occasions for hiking/camping/ other science events!

Economics – Omicron Delta Epsilon

The objectives of Omicron Delta Epsilon are recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics; and the establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics within colleges and universities.

Economics and Finance Club

The Economics and Finance Society develops a further understanding of Economics and Finance and their role in the business community, and establishes a spirit of unity among the members of the organization.

Education – Kappa Delta Pi

Kappa Delta Pi advances quality education by inspiring teachers to prepare all learners for future challenges.

Educational Services – Chi Alpha Epsilon

Chi Alpha Epsilon was formed to recognize the academic achievements of college students in access and scholar programs. Its purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, to foster increased communication among its members, and to honor academic excellence achieved by those students.

Emergency Medical Services

The primary function of the WCU EMS is to provide pre hospital emergency care and first aid to all members of the campus community. A secondary function is to provide educational programs and resources to the campus community on topics such as first aid and CPR. EMS at WCU is recognized by the PA Department of Health as a quick response service (QRS) and it is staffed by students who are certifies on the state and national level as emergency medical technicians. Certification courses are available to all members.

English - Sigma Tau Delta

The Society strives to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies; provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities; foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing; promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members; exhibit high standards of academic excellence; and serve society by fostering literacy.

English Club

The English Club provides an opportunity for students interested in literature and writing to express themselves through these arenas and enrich their personal growth.

Environmental Health Club

The Environmental Health Club promotes the Environmental Health major, participates in environmental service projects, and provides a platform for members to network with local professionals.

Equestrian Club

The WCU Equestrian Team aims to allow members to take part in English intercollegiate horse shows and activities, develop a strong sense of sportsmanship and team spirit, and help members develop their skills and encourage people’s interest in horses as well as the English discipline of riding. The Equestrian club consists of English riding discipline only with a strong focus on equitation.

Exercise Science Club

The Exercise Science Club unites students interested in exercise science to provide opportunities to gain connections, network, volunteer, and better prepare for graduate school following a degree in exercise science.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ goal is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence.

Fencing Club

WCU Club Fencing aims to build individuals’ fencing skills and provide the opportunity for members to participate in local fencing tournaments.

Field Hockey Club

WCU’s Club Field Hockey is gender-inclusive and gives undergraduate students a chance to participate in competitive collegiate field hockey through a league or tournaments. A part of the National Field Hockey League, WCU’s Club Field Hockey is a great way to meet new people and become involved on campus through passion and dedication for field hockey.

Food Recovery Network

The Food Recovery Network is dedicated to reducing food waste and distributing the surplus to local community partners that address food insecurity within West Chester and Chester County.

Foreign Languages - Alpha Mu Gamma

Alpha Mu Gamma has as its primary purpose the honoring of students for outstanding achievement during their first year of foreign language study in college.

Forensics Speech and Debate

WCU Forensics is an elite group of intercollegiate Speakers, Debaters, Actors, and Future Leaders. Throughout the year we travel all over the country competing against a bounty of prestigious schools. If you have an interest in sharing your ideas with others, enjoy a competitive atmosphere, want to make new friends, want to travel, and most importantly want to enhance your speaking skills while touching the lives of many other individuals, then Forensics may be what you need.

Fraternal Programming Board

The purpose of the organization is to serve as the programming board for the Interfraternity Council, The Panhellenic Council, The Multicultural Greek Council, and the National Panhellenic Council.

French – Pi Delta Phi

The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and Francophone literatures, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and francophone cultural activities.

French Club

The French Club promotes the understanding and appreciation of French Culture through its language, history, and civilization.

Friars’ Society

The Friars’ Society is an honorary service organization composed of undergraduate men who are invited into the society in recognition of outstanding leadership, honor, virtue, friendship, and character. They work to better the campus and community through community service projects.

Gender Studies Club

Gender Studies Club is a space to discuss issues concerning women, gender, and how those topics intersect with other issues and areas of our lives. Meetings usually consist of an introduction of the weekly topic and then an open floor for discussion. You do not have to be in the major to join.

Geography - Gamma Theta Upsilon

The goals of Gamma Theta Upsilon include furthering professional interest in Geography by affording a common organization for those interested in the field; strengthening student and professional training through academic experiences in addition to those of the classroom and laboratory; advancing the status of Geography as a cultural and practical discipline for study and investigation; encouraging student research of high quality, and to promote an outlet for publication; creating and administering funds for furthering graduate study and/or research in the field of Geography; encouraging members to apply geographic knowledge and skills in service to humankind.

Geography and Planning Club

The Geography and Planning Club provides academic and professional opportunities to establish social contacts with others interested in the field of Geography and provides a mean for the organization to host fun outings related to the field of Geography.

Geology - Sigma Gamma Epsilon

The Society of Sigma Gamma Epsilon was established to recognize scholarship and professionalism in the Earth Sciences. It has for its objectives the scholastic, scientific, and professional advancement of its members and the extension of relations of friendship and assistance among colleges and universities which are devoted to the advancement of the Earth Sciences.

German Club

The German Club provides a forum for all and any students interested in German language or the culture and society of German speaking countries to learn and practice their knowledge.

Golden Gamers

Golden Gamers strives to bring together West Chester students who are passionate about gaming for charity through events such as Extra Life’s 24 hour gaming marathon to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Gospel Ministries of WCU

Gospel Ministries of WCU spreads the Christian doctrine through song and dance and provides the University and community with opportunities to appreciate this experience.

Gracenotes

Gracenotes gives students with musical and vocal ability the opportunity for ensemble participation singing barbershop repertoire and to perform at least once each semester for community and university events.

Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter

The Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter represents WCU to the international organization. Its mission is to work and develop communities by building and renovating houses so acceptable homes exist in decent communities where people can live and grow.

Hands Helping Paws

Hands Helping Paws advocates for local dogs, works closely with the Brandywine SPCA, and spreads helpful information.

Health and Physical Education Club

The Health and Physical Education Club unites and encourages professional development for Health and Physical Education majors and those interested in the field. The club participates in events with local schools and organizations to build experience and connections.

High Street Harmonix

High Street Harmonix provides entertainment for campus and community through a capella music and performance. The organization intends to compete and transfer our love for performance to the audience.

Hillel

Hillel is an inclusive environment that works to enrich the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people of the world.

Hispanic – Sigma Delta Pi

Sigma Delta Pi’s goals include honoring those who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples; honoring those who have made Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world; encouraging college and university students to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of, Hispanic culture; and fostering friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech.

History - Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. The Society seeks to bring students and teachers together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.

History Club

The History Club is open to anyone who is interested in studying and experiencing history. The club travels to various historical locations such as Gettysburg and Washington D.C. and is a great way for students to get involved on campus and meet other students with the same passion.

Honors Student Association

The Honors Student Association provides West Chester University students with programs and activities designed to enrich the academic, social, and service-learning aspects of their educational, leadership, and co-curricular development.

Ice Hockey Club—Men

Men’s Club Ice Hockey serves to provide the opportunity to participate in the activity of inter-collegiate ice hockey. Participants have the opportunity to develop leadership and/or athletic skills and encourage good sportsmanlike conduct among members.

Ice Hockey Club—Women

Women’s Club Ice Hockey aims to provide the opportunity to participate in the activity of inter-collegiate women’s ice hockey. Participants have the opportunity to develop academic, leadership, and/or athletic skills as well as encourage good sportsmanship among members.

Impact Movement

Impact Movement is an interdenominational student Christian organization seeking to provide a spiritual experience for students to grow in their relationship with God through resources such as weekly Bible studies, conferences and retreats.

Institution of Management Accountants

Institute of Management Accountants educates students about career opportunities for graduating accounting majors beyond those for which a CPA is required. It will provide some opportunities in forms of scholarships and networking with other business professionals.

International Student Organization

The International Student Organization aims to enrich and enhance international students’ experience of the U.S. by assisting their integration into campus life and the community.

Investment Group of WCU

The Investment Group provides a valuable educational experience to its members by allowing them to manage an investment portfolio. Students learn about financial markets and investing philosophies.

Italian Club

The Italian Club gives students a space to celebrate Italian language and culture through education and activities that allow students to become connected to other students.

Japanese Club

The Japanese Club educates students about the culture, history, and language of Japan through intercultural research and discussion.

Judo Club

The goal of the WCU Judo Club is to provide a positive atmosphere for WCU students to develop themselves through Judo. Particular attention will be paid to Renshinho (physical development), Shunshinho (mental development) and Shobuho (proficiency in competition) for recreational, instructional, and competitive participation.

Kappa Kappa Psi

Formed in 1981, Kappa Kappa Psi is dedicated to providing all band organizations with coordinated service activities. Prospective members must be qualified musicians and Incomparable Golden Rams band members, possess unusually good character, and demonstrate leadership potential.

Kinesiology - Phi Epsilon Kappa

Kronum Club

The WCU Kronum Club introduces a new game that combines elements from many other popular sports such as soccer, team handball, and basketball. The game involves two teams of ten players on a circular playing surface with one ball and four goal structures. This club aims to grow team players through practice of the skills of the game.
