Entrepreneurs Pitch Ideas at WCU’s “Shark Tank”
Passion. Planning. Determination. Resilience. Six hopeful entrepreneurs will demonstrate these characteristics and their prowess at pitching on Wednesday, April 25, at West Chester University's sixth annual Business Idea Pitch competition. They bested a field of 355 people who submitted 190 concepts across four divisions. The finalists are:
Chester County-Based Start-Ups
Ram Pride Ride: A ridesharing platform contained to University perimeters, presented
by Kevin Morgan.
Sir Dangerhorse Skin Solutions: An all-natural tattoo healing cream, presented by
Rachel Frazao.
WCU Undergraduate Students
TUS: Tutors for University: An interface allowing students and tutors to connect and
learn, presented by Kevin Morgan.
WCU Parking App: An app which displays parking notifications, walking or driving directions
and notifications for closures of parking areas at WCU, presented by Zohndra Vogdes,
Elizabeth McBrien, Emmi Alteri, Robert Rotonda, Erin Tighe, and Jesse Harkins.
WCU Graduate Students, Alumni, Faculty & Staff
Innovative Solutions: Fostering connections between students and companies looking
for interns and internships in cost accounting, presented by Ben Wann.
Wish Respect: Providing information with the intent to increase the number of people
with advanced directives, presented by Matthew Heilman.
In the High School division pitch, held on April 10, the winner was Speak Easy, an app that translates sign language into written or spoken word. It was presented by Anna Miller and Bradford Allan from Great Valley High School, who are returning to present at the April 25 pitch.
The 2018 Business Idea Pitch competition takes place at the West Chester University Alumni and Foundation Center, 202 Carter Drive. Registration and networking begin at 5 p.m,, dinner will be served at 5:30, and pitches begin at 6:15. Register here.
The Sixth Annual Business Idea Competition is co-hosted by the Dr. Edwin Cottrell Entrepreneurial Leadership Center and the Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic, the world's largest angel network. The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring this year's pitch event and First Priority Bank is sponsoring the April 25 networking reception.
