The purpose of this conference is to provide local charter schools who are their own Local Education Associations (“LEA”) with the legal, instructional and pedagogical framework necessary to address their students’ needs across special education and section 504. Research confirms that charter and cyber schools alike confront unique challenges at providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (“FAPE”) for students that are typically not the same types of obstacles that traditional public school special educator’s encounter while providing a FAPE for students. School teacher professional development and school leadership Act 48, PIL and CLE credits for special education lawyers will be provided through this conference.

2015 Grandparents University

Monday, June 22nd-Wednesday, June 24th

Designed with one goal in mind, Grandparents University creates a fun, interactive atmosphere to promote education and communication across different generations of families. Grandparents and their grandchildren come to campus for two days and three nights. You'll stay in your family's own brand new dorm room or suite. You and your grandchildren will take four courses taught by university professors from a variety of disciplines. It's a great way to expose children to a university setting while creating memories with their grandparents that will last a lifetime.

All meals are included in the program, and we dine in a university cafeteria. The cafeteria provides multiple selections from soup and salad to a selection of hot and cold food. Everybody will find something they like. For cafeteria food, the kitchen staff get rave reviews!

Check the Courses page for an overview of each class. Grandparents and grandchildren enroll in courses together so they can learn together.

After a full day of classes and activities, with some break time built in, it's time for your evening entertainment. Back by popular demand...we'll again be entertained by the comedians at Comedy on Demand! They are a local Improv Comedy Troupe and had us in stitches last summer. Several grandchildren, and even a grandmother, were pulled on stage to help entertain the audience.
