Examity is a third-party service that monitors students taking online exams in our distance education courses. By using the student's own computer, webcam, and microphone while logged into WCU's Desire2Learn platform, Examity's software enables the proctor to verify a student's identity prior to taking the exam. The service provides real time proctoring throughout the exam and a video recording of each student, which is reviewed by the proctor for suspicious behavior. A final report provided to the instructor includes the clearance status of each student who took the exam. Instructors are able to view the videos for 30 days after the exam.
Students must first register with Examity by setting up security questions and uploading a picture of either their WCU Ram e Card or a government-issued photo ID. They can then schedule a time to take their exam during a period that has been specified by their instructor. On exam day, they will log into the course in D2L and begin the proctoring process by following the instructions provided in the Students section below.
