Most laptops and some desktop computers (like the iMac) have a webcam and microphone built-in. However, if your computer does not have these then you will need to buy an external webcam and microphone in order to use Examity. You can typically find one that connects through one of your computer's USB ports, and a decent one costs around $30. There are several types of stores that sell them, including:
When purchasing a webcam, make sure it also has a microphone built-in. Some external webcams do not have an integrated microphone, but you will need one to converse with the proctor.
Examity does not work with mobile devices (such as an iPhone or iPad) at this time.
Please follow the instructions in the Examity Student Manual . Note that you must register with Examity and schedule your exam at least 48 hours before the exam window opens. However, we recommend that students do this as early as possible in order to reserve a time that is most convenient for them and to avoid any unforeseen issues.
