Recommended Student Computer Configuration

Looking to buy your student a new computer? Need a little help?

PC or Mac?

At WCU we have designed our systems to be platform agnostic and device independent so you can use a PC or a Mac. If you are looking to buy a new computer, your major can help determine your choice. Departments such as Music, Art, and Education use Macs and have software to run on Macs. Other departments use Windows PCs. However, any department that uses Macs also has a Mac lab, which means, even if you don't own a Mac, you can use one.

Software Applications

  • Flash Drive
  • Ethernet (network) cable of 15' or more if your computer has an Ethernet (network) jack or adapter
