As one of the nation’s top regional comprehensive public universities, West Chester University is ready for even greater success. In preparation, the campus community developed a shared vision to set the institution’s direction for the next decade.
More than 2,000 stakeholders – faculty, students, staff, alumni and corporate, government and non-profit leaders – participated in creating this vision. And the result is the Building on Excellence Strategic Plan.
Most experts agree that effective plans acknowledge traditions, affirm values, identify opportunities and challenges, and present clear goals and outcomes. Building on Excellence does just that thanks to the leadership of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and a process that included internal and external scans, a Middle States Reaccreditation review (2011), academic and facilities planning, campus climate and market research, and task forces focused on key institutional needs.
WCU is proud of where it’s been and confident that Building on Excellence will ensure a very bright future. So I invite you to review the Plan either in its comprehensive form or the Phase 1 summary version (see left). In addition, for a deeper view of the Plan’s development, explore the related web-pages shown above.
As the Plan unfolds, annual progress reports will be posted on this site along with other information prepared by the Strategic Plan Assessment and Advocacy Committee and other campus groups. Your feedback is also welcome via the electronic idea box.
Thank you for playing a role in helping West Chester University achieve great things for our students and community.
