Biography
Dr. Lisa Millhous is a scholar of cultural communication with specialties in multicultural organizations and small group dynamics. She regularly teaches courses that focus on communication challenges in the professional world, such as intercultural communication training, event planning and event production, organizational cultures, and business and professional speaking. A new course she is working with colleagues to develop is MDC 254 Media Theory. She has conducted original research on Russian-American collaboration, student motivation, and event evaluation.
Most recently, I was on sabbatical and collected data for a study analyzing the narratives that adults create when working with anxious youth. This project is on-going and looks pragmatically at how we can use conversations can help people feel less anxious.
Dr. Millhous holds a B.A. in International Studies from Macalester College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Speech-Communication from the University of Minnesota. She has extensive international experience in Asia, including India, Russia, Thailand, China and Japan. At WCU she teaches and advises for Communication Studies and Media and Culture. She joined the faculty of West Chester University in 1999.
