This professor always goes out of his way to help all of his students succeed. His teaching method is purely hands-on and real-world scenarios. He prepares his students for the world outside of school like no professor I've ever had.

He is Intelligent, willingness to recommend, approachable, understandable and always willing to fit a student in his busy schedule.

Johny Tadros makes sense of all the madness and chaos during difficult times. He makes it a point to be knowledgeable on many areas of advising in Psychology and the Honors College. He is always prepared and truly cares about the success of each student. He shows this by giving all the honest information he has about teachers, classes, and internship opportunities available so students can make the best, and most informed, decision about their future classes and careers. He brings his amazing upbeat personality to every advising session and makes advising a less hectic time. He is someone you can easily relate to because he makes everything easy to understand. Johny Tadros is truly a gift in the advising department for Psychology and is more than worthy of this recognition.

He is a very great listener and he cares about each and every student. He has helped me in so many ways throughout my college career, I thank him for being that listening ear and that guidance when needed.

Mr. Tadros always goes above and beyond his academic duties and makes sure that the best possible options are available. He is so knowledgeable and very personable.

Dr. Becker Kane has been my advisor for about three years now. She has been endlessly helpful and supportive. She is quick to respond to emails and I know I am always welcome to reach out to her.

Dr. Burns is an outstanding advisor. He is always available outside of office hours and is very receptive to email. What I love most about Dr. Burns is that he always has his students' best interests in mind. Dr. Burns cares very much for his students and every student he encounters. 

Dr. Burn's leadership qualities and as someone who understands students, sets him apart. I am a mature student, and a professional with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from a great school. One of the primary reasons for my attending WCUPA is to enhance my understanding of a subject as abstract as Computer Science and appreciate the nuances of the subject. Dr. Burns is a consummate teacher's teacher. His assignments are tough but I learn. For a working professional like me, it is important that a professor understands my personal challenges, rather than JUST being tough all the time. Such empathy inspires me to work harder and appreciate the value of learning. It is his ability to relate to students sets him above everyone else. Overall student experience with WCUPA is a function of human connections and Dr. Burns gets it!

Dr. Chancellor is very passionate about her job and is super caring toward all of her students in and outside of the classroom.

Dr. Cichowicz goes out of her way to make herself accessible to all students. Although she is the chair of the chemistry department, she allocates the majority of her day to advising students on their future and current success. Dr. Cichowicz has provided many opportunities to students and continues to seek out new areas for students to explore. 

She is constantly busy from helping advise many students and does an excellent job in making me feel like she is only advising me whenever I meet with her.

Dr. Melissa Cichowicz is the head of the chemistry department here at WCU. She works tirelessly to make sure all of the students in the chemistry department who need help with advising, scheduling, academic help, internship placement, and even job searching get the help they need. She truly cares about individual students and will go out of her way to provide the necessary means for each student to achieve success. I personally feel so lucky to be a part of the chemistry department because of Dr. Cichowicz's amazing leadership and dedication. 

Dr. Cichowicz has been an outstanding advisor throughout my time at West Chester University. Dr. Cichowicz genuinely cares about her students and always makes time for them even though she has many other responsibilities as the Chemistry Department Chair. Dr. Cichowicz greets all of her advisees by name and always checks on them to see how they are doing. I feel that my advisor really took the time to get to know me on a personal level in addition to familiarizing herself with my academic information. She goes above and beyond what is required of an academic advisor, and helped me find multiple research and volunteering opportunities in my field of interest. I feel that Dr. Cichowicz is dedicated to her job and demonstrates compassion for her all of her students. She is invested in the education of her advisees and does everything she can to ensure they succeed. I cannot think of candidate more deserving of Outstanding Advising Award. 

I believe the word caring best describes my advisor. She wants to see all of her students succeed and she is willing to put in extra time to find them opportunities and resources to ensure their success. 

She goes above and beyond to provide career advice and search for internships and research opportunities. 

She is caring and knowledgeable.

Dr. Cichowicz is always willing to go above and beyod to seek out opportunities for students. She advocates for students to be in classes when there is no more room and has even inspired some classes to add additional sections just to fit the student demand. She is always willing to allow bright students into her research, and takes time to teach students who seek her guidance. I, personally, almost had to drop out of the university for financial reasons, and Dr. Cichowicz contacted the financial aid office to see if there were any additional grants. She is one major reason why I am studying here, and one major reason I so greatly appreciate and respect the faculty and education at West Chester University. 

Dr. Clarke oversees and advises all doctoral students in the WCU Clinical PsyD program. She has created an individualized academic course plan based on our unique circumstances (I.e. previous graduate degrees, previously earned credits, career interests, etc.). Last semester I had eye surgery and had to take medical leave unexpectedly. Dr. Clarke made herself available to inform me of all of my options and helped me take care of physical and mental health while still staying in the program and staying on course to graduate on time. Her guidance helped me immensely during a very difficult time. 

I met Dr. Delshad on a spring break trip last year. Since meeting her she has continually checked in with me to see how school and life are going. We associated mostly though campus sustainability efforts and the school gardens. This year when I wanted to take on an independent study research project I was having trouble getting faculty from my department to support me. When I went to Dr. Delshad for advice on this, she offered to be my advisor and has provided me with tremendous support and guidance for my project. Dr. Delshad inspires me to be a better person and I am grateful to have her as a mentor. 

She goes above and beyond for all of her students. She has recently become the director of the pre-medical program, which is a huge undertaking. Despite all her new responsibilities, she is always available and enthusiastic about advising. I am privileged to have her as my major advisor as well as my advisor for the pre-medical program, and I can’t honestly say I could not have done it without her encouragement and support. She is well respected by all of her students. It is amazing to have a woman like Dr. Donze to serve as a role model for other women in science. She is most deserving of this award. 

Dr. Donze always makes time to advise myself and other students. 

He’s incredible, available at all times, and always has a relevant information. He’s been a pleasure to work with.

 Dr. Gallop will grasp and dissect your question right away, he will dig, think, experiment, research and try until he finds and provides with a clear, explicit and complete answer - even if your question is not clear / makes no sense ...

Dr. gans always goes out of her way to help in any way she can. i have asked her numerous questions pertaining to scheduling and other things that weren’t class related and she was always more than happy to answer my questions. she shows so much care for her students and there’s not enough professors like her. she’s absolutely amazing as a person, advisor, and professor! 

Dr. Gawrysiak goes above and beyond to foster the academic and future career success of his students. I've worked in his lab for two semesters and he's been instrumental in encouraging my research ambitions, and opening my eyes to just how much I can really accomplish if I have the courage to follow these ambitions through to graduate studies. He's gone out of his way to make himself available for extra career advising to everyone in the lab, and has offered me valuable insight on the professional aspects of the field, as well as consistently providing constructive feedback as I progress in my research skills. What's more, he is always on the look out for opportunities for his students to succeed, forwarding us information about programs, awards, applications for conferences and journals, etc. that we had no idea existed, and encouraging us to go for it. Dr. G. supports us in our pursuits and has made it clear that he believes in the ability of every single one of us to do great things, which in turn sparks inspiration and motivation within us. I am proud to call him my mentor.

Since beginning her career at WCU, Dr. Grassetti has truly been evolved the trauma department by providing students with both clinical and research opportunities. She is also hosting BRIDGE Visit Day, which is a program geered toward inviting students from traditionally underrepresented communities, to apply to our graduate programs. Dr. Grassetti has personally been a great resource to me by offering new classes where I am able to get experience leading trauma-focused groups, made training opportunities available at little to no cost, and took notice to how I personally conceptualize clients and encouraged me to get involved in related mentoring, which has greatly enhanced my training! This is her first year teaching and I am so happy she chose to begin her career here!

Dr. Grassetti has gone above and beyond in helping me to prepare for doctoral study and work towards achieving my goals. She is supportive, encouraging, and helpful. Dr. Grassetti always has my success in mind, and frequently lets me know of opportunities that align with my interests and goals. While working with Dr. Grassetti, I have received multiple research awards through WCU with the help of her guidance and encouragement. Dr. Grassetti is always willing to meet with me one-on-one, whether its for career advice, assistance with research, academic advising or advice about applying to doctoral programs. She listens to my input, and allows me to become involved in every aspect of research. Although she has an extremely busy schedule, she always makes time to meet with me and other students whenever we need. I could not ask for a better mentor and role model than Dr. Grassetti, and because of her mentorship this past academic year I am a better researcher, a better student, and more equipped to reach my goals than I could have imagined. 

Joby has helped me figure out what I want to study in graduate school and the steps I should take to get there.

Dr. H goes out of his way to make himself available for his students. He is extremely helpful in every way possible and integral to our department.

his nominee has done a tremendous at being an advisor. I was given the opportunity to be able to have her as a professor and she is kind, understanding and an overall fair professor. She takes an active interest in my life outside of education and always presents me with opportunities for career growth. She goes above and beyond the expectations! 

Professor Lisa Marano has been appointed Dean’s Faculty Associate for Student Success in the College of the Science and Mathematics at West Chester University (WCU) for a reason. A position well deserved. She is also the Assistant Chair of the Department of Mathematics and also the Coordinator or the Actuarial Science and Financial Mathematics Program at WCU. She is truly gifted with the art of awakening the potential for success in students. It is beautiful how this sentiment is uniformly shared by every student I know who ever took a course with Professor Marano. From my personal experience, I owe a great deal of my academic success at WCU to Professor Marano's motivation and inspiration. She is a great professor and a great mentor. When I applied to the Master's program in Pure Mathematics at WCU, I was coming in the program with a weak background in Mathematics and I wasn't sure I could make it. The first graduate Math course that I took at WCU was taught by Professor Marano. She was amazing. She made me realized first that with a great professor I could learn anything. She was my academic catalyst intellectual. She has always been supportive to all her students. I personally owe a great deal of my recent admission to PhD to her teaching, her guidance, and great mentorship. Professor Lisa Marano receive my full support and is my nomination for the 6th Annual Outstanding Academic Advising Awards.

Dr. McClintock has served as my undergraduate and graduate advisor. He has helped me schedule classes, find internships and he introduced me to the Accelerated Applied Statistics program. I am very thankful for the help and support that Dr. McClintock has provided me during my five years at West Chester University. I am set to graduate in May therefore I am currently looking for a full time position. Dr. McClintock has emailed me numerous positions in the area and has provided recommendations for me when needed.

Dr. McClintock was never officially assigned to be my advisor, but has helped me more than any actual advisor I’ve had in my educational career. I met him when I had the pleasure of having him as a professor. He went above and beyond helping me solve some issues I was having with my transcript. He never once made me feel like I was bothering him or being annoying (and I can promise you I was). He’s a genuinely good person and I believe being a teacher/advisor is the job he was meant to do.
Last summer he was going to email me about a potential job and noticed that I had dropped my classes the previous semester. He instead emailed to ask if there was anything he could do to help me finish and encouraged me to do so. He’s not aware of this, but that simple email of genuine concern played a major part in me signing up for classes again. I don’t know about you, but I have never had someone truly care so much and go out of their way to offer to help.

She's very helpful and wants us to graduate as soon as we can.

Ms. McMahan not only does an excellent job advising, but she also goes above and beyond for her students in order to ensure their success. Providing an individualistic approach to each and every student she advises, the process feels very organized and thus becomes less stressful.

She's the best academic advisor I've ever had. After being at Shippensburg for 3 years and transferring to WCU, I'm blown away by the amount of work she puts into every response. Truly an unbelievable advisor that goes above and beyond. Usually I wouldn't fill out a survey, but since I felt so strongly about how great she is; I felt I had too. The amount of time she puts in for each student seems unreal. I don't know how it's possible to have the time to do it.

She is the most helpful advisor I could have asked for. Every time we meet, she plans out every class I need to take until I graduate. She really listens to my concerns surrounding my schedule, and gives the best academic and future building advice.

Dr. Vipanchi Mishra is a very helpful and kind professor. I've worked under her as her GA for the past two years and she has been an amazing mentor to me. She challenges her students to reach their highest potential and encourages them to become better students and professionals. She provides opportunities for students to work alongside her in research and present them in conferences. She has given me and other students guidance on possible career paths and graduate school options. She is one of the best professors that I have had the pleasure to work under and I think she is very deserving of the Outstanding Academic Advising Award.

He is not my academic advisor however, I feel that if I ever have questions or concerns about my academics or career options, I can go to him and he will always provide helpful feedback. He looks at things from my perspective and thinks about what would be best for me personally, rather than just in general for a student in my field. He'll ask a large number of questions to truly understand my views and ideas for myself so that he can provide the most helpful feedback possible.

Even though he is not my assigned advisor, he has gone above and beyond in helping me with applications for research and preparing for graduate school. He is always around to talk and give advice and help anyone that enters his office, even if they are not one of his advisees or his students. He is great at presenting you with all of the options, even alternative options that might be best for you. He has also be very understanding of student's needs, and always fights for what is best for them. 

Helps students beyond the classroom to prepare for post-undergrad career.

Professor Nitica is a passionate and outstanding educator. He is an amazing professor with an exceptional teaching skills and expertise in Mathematics. He dedicated his life-long career teaching Mathematics at WCU. His passion for the subject is extremely contagious and spell binding, which makes you love mathematics despite its difficulty. What makes Professor Nitica special is the fact that he always goes the extra mile. To his students, he is a mentor. With him, I learned to love mathematics just like the so many other students that I know who attribute their success in Mathematics to Professor Nitica's unique teaching skills and care for his students. Thanks to Professor Nitica, I am completing a Master's degree in Pure Mathematics at WCU despite my weak background in the subject coming in the program. Moreover Professor Nitica has been there, encouraging me with unconditional support which allowed me to get an admission to complete my PhD starting in the fall. My case is one example among many students who could literally say the same thing about Professor Nitica. He has my full support and receives my nomination. He elevates the image of WCU through every one of the so many students he has impacted over the years.

Dr. Pruitt has always taken the time to give me enriching advice for graduate school and my career in general. As an aspiring cancer researcher, he provides me with unique insight since he used to work in pharmaceutical development. I realized how great an option a PhD is because of him, and I am so thankful!!! He is my favorite professor at West Chester!!

He is always willing to help and provide assistance. He does his job with an authentic passion, and is always an easy person to have a conversation with.

Always available to help with scheduling, job application questions and suggestions and just clearly cares about the academic success of her students.

He is approachable and helpful on things that one might expect a student to know how to do already. He is flexible in helping even when it's not his office hours and is willing to help people who aren't his students.

Dr. Stangl is an excellent professor and advisor. He is a man who truly cares about learning rather than simply teaching. He wants his students to appreciate and absorb the material he teaches, which is obvious through his passion for teaching and the work he assigns. He is a fantastic advisor who is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to scheduling and life advice.

She has helped so much over the course of one semester. She has pushed me to be the best student I could be and how to make the most out of my college career. She has always answered my questions and even met with me on short notice.

After transferring to West Chester University from a non-PASSHE institution and changing my major, Dr. Linda Stevenson ensured graduation within a 4 year time frame. 

Dr. Sudol truly cares about the students in his Physics BSED program. He is passionate about the program and looking out for his students. Dr. Sudol has gone out of his way on multiple occasions to help me even though he has had a number of difficult events in recent months. He will not be my advisor starting next year, however he is committed to helping me until I graduate. 

Dr. Sullivan has met with me many times to help with many issues with my schedule.  She has always been looking out for me, and without her I could not have achieved the level of success that I have.  She has gone above and beyond the role of an Academic Advisor.  Not only has she assisted me in scheduling my courses for the coming semester, but she has helped me plan the entirety of my academic career at WCU.  By her recommendations and guidance I have added a second major, as well as taken on three minors.  The planning of my intensive academic career has taken tremendous effort, and I am very appreciative of her efforts.  

Dr. Sullivan-Brown is an empathic advisor who cares deeply about the wellbeing of her students. She has always been a kind, caring advisor and has helped me become a better student. 

Dr. Sweet goes above and beyond as an advisor. Every time I go to my advising appointment, he is able to answer whatever curveball question I throw at him and if he does not know the answer, he finds out and emails me immediately. He shared with me his own experiences through his undergraduate degree to his PhD to offer some insight into his career path. He really gets to know all of his advisees and wants to see us succeed inside and outside of the classroom like asking me about my soccer games or how my other classes are going. Recently, he sent me a scholarship application that he thought I should check out and even offered to sponsor me. Dr. Sweet is a great representative of the biology department and an even better representative of the caring atmosphere that West Chester is known for. 

Dr. McConatha has played a significant role in my academic journey. She is always willing to go above and beyond for her students. She is stern when she needs to be, straight forward and fair. Her hard work, commitment, and contributions to research for Well-Being and Ageism speak volumes about her character. I am honored to be a part of her research and to have the distinct opportunity to learn about the well-being of elders in their communities through my Field Experience here at West Chester University.

Always goes above and beyond for a student. 

Dr. Yorges is worthy of recognition as she has opened the gates to education for adult learners seeking higher education.  As my academic advisor she has shepherded me through the academic process and given me the opportunity to pivot my career in a more meaningful direction.  Her willingness to support and guide students of all types on their individual journey is exemplary!

Dr. Zalewski led my Senior Seminar class and not only made herself a resource to us, but extended every one of her resources to us as well. She brought in speakers from other departments to help guide us to being successful after graduation. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her support is unmatched. Dr. Zalewski is not my advisor, but I know that if I needed anything, she would lend whatever help she could. 

Since meeting Dr. Shah he has gone absolutely above an beyond to help me anytime I need. He has done more for me than my academic advisor and any of my other professors here at WCU. He makes me believe in myself and always gives me the perfect advice. He even went out of his way to connect me with every contact he could think of with the potential to help me find a future career. I don’t think Dr. Shah will ever know how much I truly appreciate everything he has done for me but nominating him for this award is a start. I have no doubt in my mind that he is the most deserving of this award.
