Biography
Dr. Burris teaches in the undergraduate early grades preparation program and in the early childhood minor. She typically teaches methods courses focused on children birth to five years. Dr. Burris holds degrees in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum, Technology, and Higher Education (Ed.D.), Curriculum and Instruction (M.A.E.), Early Childhood Education (M.Ed.), and Special Education (B.A.). Previously, she taught young children in community-based early childhood settings before transitioning to teaching in higher education. Prior to joining WCU's faculty, Dr. Burris developed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses for four early childhood teacher preparation programs. Her scholarship focuses on leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes, in-service and pre-service professional development, and quality learning environments.
