Dr. Si Chen
Associate Professor
College of Sciences and Mathematics - Computer Science
Bio
Dr. Si Chen graduated from University at Buffalo - SUNY in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Kui Ren. His research interest broadly focuses on exploring novel ideas and techniques to solve practical problems and security issues for mobile sensing and cyber-physical systems. In the context of mobile sensing systems, he is interested in smartphone-enabled crowdsourcing approaches that can help build large-scale information infrastructures conveniently at a very low cost.
Chen also studies cyber-physical system security from the physical layer, leveraging various related characteristics to enable inherently secure and dependable wireless communications. He's a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of ACM.
Over the past five years, his research focuses on studying novel cyber-physical system security, security and privacy on the smart wearable device. His research papers have been published in highly selective research venues and made essential contributions in the cyber-physical security and mobile sensing research community, like ACM SenSys, IEEE ICDCS, IEEE MASS, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC) and IEEE IoT Journal. In 2017, one of his human voice security and privacy paper won the Best Student Paper award in 2017 ICDCS conference.
