WCU Prepares to Celebrate 150 Years
When the concept for a teacher education school in Chester County first took shape
in the late 1860s, 19th-century educators could not have envisioned how successful
this institution would become.
As we prepare to celebrate our 150th anniversary amid historic and turbulent times, West Chester University continues to display the resilience, adaptability, and responsiveness that has carried this institution through advances in education, workforce development, population and campus growth, technological changes, pandemics, wars, economic challenges, and more.
The summer 2020 issue of The WCU Magazine provides a brief glimpse into the University’s history as a precursor to official 150th events. Upcoming issues will include features highlighting some of the enduring elements that make WCU what it is. With only 32 pages per issue, however, our print coverage will be limited so please visit the WCU website often as we kick off WCU’s 150th year in 2021.
