Reigning Miss WCU Madelyn Rowan, an international business and supply chain management dual major from Lake Wynonah, PA, will travel to York, PA this week to compete in the 2023 Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Competition. Twenty-seven young women from throughout the Commonwealth will compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and the title of Miss Pennsylvania. The preliminary Miss Pennsylvania competition will take place Thursday, June 15, and Friday, June 16, followed by the finals on Saturday, June 17.

Miss WCU Madelyn Rowan has the chance to win the “People’s Choice,” which will ensure a spot for her among the top 11 selected to compete during the finals. The WCU community can help by voting here multiple times and selecting Contestant #3, Miss WCU. Each vote cast costs $1.00 and the funds raised will provide additional scholarships to the young women who are competing. Madelyn, whose platform focuses on donating supplies to local animal shelters, shares more in this video. All voting for the “People’s Choice” closes on Wednesday, June 14, at 11 p.m.

“Madelyn has worked very hard this year to spread her message to the WCU campus and beyond,” said Kelly Moyer, coordinator for spirit and traditions and the advisor for Miss WCU. “She has been such a wonderful representative of West Chester University. I hope that students, faculty and staff will cheer Madelyn on this entire week and will vote for her many, many times.”

The Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Competition is a preliminary to the Miss America Competition, which states that it is the single largest provider of scholarships to young women in the world. To be considered for the Miss America competition, candidates must first win one of more than 12 local competitions in the Commonwealth for Miss Pennsylvania.

Miss WCU was created in 1998 by a resident assistant in Killinger Hall. Since its development, the Miss WCU Scholarship Organization has provided close to $60,000 in scholarships to nearly 500 WCU women who have since become successful professionals.
