There’s No Place Like WCU for Homecoming and Family Weekend

hoemcoming graphicFor the first time in WCU history, two great Golden Rams traditions are taking place simultaneously. September 29 through October 1 is when Family Weekend meets Homecoming!

Headlining the weekend is actor and comedian Jay Pharoah, performing at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall. Best known for his spot-on impressions, Pharoah spent six seasons as a cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He shifted to his first leading role in Showtime’s White Famous. His film credits include The Blackening and Spinning Gold. Read more about him and purchase tickets here.

Families are invited to kick off the weekend with a free family-style Rams After Hours event in Sykes on Friday, September 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. Emerald City Lights offers a wizard-themed experience with food and fun, escape rooms, and other magic.

Homecoming’s Wizard of Oz theme goes into high gear on Saturday, September 30, when alumni, students and their families, plus the campus and local community are all invited to WCU’s Wicked Block Party. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy music and food, free games, Golden Rams spirit stations, and giveaways as you follow the yellow brick road between Hollinger Field House and the Science and Engineering Center and The Commons (SECC) at Shack’s Way.

The Golden Rams kick off against Bloomsburg in the homecoming football game at 2 p.m. in Farrell Stadium. Fans are encouraged to park on North Campus or at M Lot and use the free WCU shuttle bus service to avoid traffic delays.

Other Golden Rams teams in action this weekend include volleyball, soccer, and swimming. Game and meet times are on the complete schedule here.
