West Chester University's Department of Art + Design jump-starts the Spring 2024 semester with two new art exhibits now on display.
In the John H. Baker Gallery, Expanding Methodologies in Print runs from from January 30 – February 23. The opening reception is on Thursday, February
1 from 4 – 6 p.m.
Coordinated by Professor Lauren Pakradooni, in collaboration with Second State Press, this is a group exhibition highlighting printmaking’s expansive nature that enables its outcome to defy explanation; creating artwork rooted in explorative process, collaboration, and mixed media.
In Knauer Gallery is the solo show Siobhan McBride: Pocket Universe, on display January 30 – February 24, 2024. An opening reception takes place on Thursday,
February 8, from 4 – 6 p.m., with an artist talk at 5 p.m.
The 16 paintings included in Pocket Universe are glimpses into the artist’s daily observations, where both banal and resplendent moments collide in densely saturated compositions.
Artist Siobhan McBride lives and works in New York City and teaches at BMCC-CUNY. McBride received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and received residency and grant support from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Workspace Program, PSC CUNY, Jentel, the Vermont Studio Center, Roswell Artist in Residence Program, Yaddo, Marble House Project, and the Sam and Adele Golden Artist Residency Program. McBride's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions across the United States, with solo shows at venues including Long Story Short NYC, NurtureArt in Brooklyn, NY, Roswell Museum, and Art Center, and the University of Maine Museum of Art in Bangor, ME.
