Registration Now Open for WCU’s Wells School of Music Summer Camps and Programs
Registration is now open for summer music camps at West Chester University for students in grades 3 – 12. Information and links to registration can be found at https://www.wcupa.edu/music/specialPrograms.aspx. All programs are held in on-campus, state-of-the-art facilities and instructed by expert faculty from the Wells School of Music and outside professionals. Select camps offer on-campus residential opportunities for high school-aged campers.
Elementary and Middle School Summer Music Camp (For elementary students in grades 3, 4, and 5 and middle school students in grades 6, 7, and 8.) Monday, June 23 – Friday, June 27: Final Concert on Friday, June 27
Elementary and Middle School students work to improve skills by participating in small and large ensembles. They receive instruction from professionals and expert faculty and observe daily faculty concerts.
High School Summer Music Institute (For students in grades 9 – 12) Monday, July 7 – Saturday, July 12, 2025; Final Concert on Saturday, July 12
Every student receives two 30-minute private lessons on their primary instrument or voice. Performances in both small and large ensembles will be offered for students specializing in wind, string orchestra, vocal, and chamber. Students will also engage in audition and college preparation activities, music training and ear theory classes, and have the potential to do solo recitals. WCU Wells School of Music professors are eager to share their knowledge and expertise, as well as share performances for students throughout the week.
Summer Jazz Camp (For students in grades 9 – 12 and advanced Middle School students) Sunday, July 13 – Friday, July 18, 2025; Final Concert on Friday, July 18
Advanced middle school and all high school students are encouraged to participate in a week of exploring jazz improvisation, jazz styles, harmony and arranging, music technology, and jazz history and performing in ensembles. All participants must have a knowledge of scales, be able to read music, and transpose, and be proficient on an instrument. Students enjoy evening activities, as well as concerts performed by visiting artists and WCU faculty.
INCOMPARABLE Marching Band Workshop (For High School students): Monday, July 21 – Thursday, July 24, 2025
The Incomparable Marching Band Workshop provides high school students with the opportunity to develop and enhance skills in leadership and performance in drum major, winds, color guard, battery percussion, and front ensemble concentrations.
