eLearnReady Assessment is a tool you may use to help gauge your readiness for online learning.
Online students are expected to have basic knowledge on how to work on their computer
in their preferred operating system, including basic knowledge of word processing
software, email, and internet browsers.
Online classes at WCU may take place synchronously, with regular online class meetings
at a designated time, or asynchronously, a format which you complete course work on
your own time (while still adhering to due dates set forth by the professor). Your
professor will post course materials and documents to WCU’s learning management system,
D2L.
You can expect the time commitment for online courses at WCU to be about the same
as face-to-face courses.
Online courses are held to the same academic standards as face-to-face courses. Content
and difficulty-level will be similar, if not the same. The main difference is that
all course work and communication with faculty and peers is completed digitally in
online courses.

Yes! Most library materials are available online. Distance education students may
