Dr. Daniel R. Ilaria, Professor of Mathematics Education, specializes in secondary mathematics education
and is passionate about improving pedagogical practices and building pedagogical content
knowledge among teacher candidates. Dr. Ilaria serves as the Program Coordinator for
secondary mathematics education and the Project Director for the WW STEM Teaching
Fellowship and NSF NOYCE W.I.S.E.R grants.
With a background in teaching middle and high school mathematics in New Jersey, Dr.
Ilaria has also held various supervisory roles in K-12 mathematics. He is a respected
speaker on topics related to mathematics education and instructional practices. Dr.
Ilaria is also an instructional coach, a T3 National Instructor, and an Illustrative
Mathematics Certified Facilitator.
Dr. Ilaria's research interests include teacher questioning, classroom discourse,
and the use of handheld graphing technology in the classroom. He has published several
articles and book chapters on these topics, contributing significantly to the field
of mathematics education. In 2024, Dr. Ilaria was honored with the T3 Teachers Teaching
with Technology Leadership Award for his outstanding contributions to integrating
technology in mathematics education.
