DI Early Decision Information

Are you a WCU DPD or MSCN program graduate or a current DPD/MSCN student who would like to apply to our dietetic internship (DI) program early and possibly be selected for an early decision dietetic internship slot?

If so, see if you meet one of the criteria below:

  1. Current WCU MSCN students
  2. WCU Accelerated BS to MSCN students
  3. WCU DPD or MSCN program graduates
  4. Current WCU DPD non-accelerated students with intention to begin the MSCN Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Fall 2025.

All students must hold an undergraduate DPD verification statement or DOI to apply for the MSCN +DI Program.

Important Dates for Early Decision Application

Dates Information

Now - October 2024

  • Review WCU DI website and handbook for more information
  • Indicate that you will be applying to our Dietetic Internship program as an Early Decision Candidate by filling out this survey: Early Decision Candidate Survey.

October 1, 2024 by 12:00 pm EST

Early Decision will NOT be in DICAS for 2024 or 2025.

All application must be submitted through Slate. Please contact DI Director, Dr. Danielle Kronmuller for more information and link.

Required Material for the October 1, 2024 deadline:

  • Resume
  • WCU Personal Statement
  • Undergraduate Unofficial Transcripts or Graduate Unofficial Transcripts (if completed MSCN; Must Send Official Transcripts)
  • Two Letters of Recommendation- (One Professor, One Professional)- Recommendation letters can be physical copies signed/sealed and hand delivered to DI Director, Recommender can email directly to DI Director at dkronmuller-harvey@wcupa.edu, or can be sent to DI Director via US mail, or submitted through the Slate Application.

WCU Preselect deadline October 1, 2024- in Slate by 12:00 pm EST.

Mid-October

Virtual interviews will be conducted with early decision candidates and the selection committee.

October 2024

  • All early decision applicants will be notified of WCU DI acceptance status.
  • Applicants must accept or deny their placement in the WCU DI program in writing via email to the program director by date listed on the notification letter.
  • If an early acceptance candidate is offered an internship spot in the WCU DI program and the candidate accepts the spot in the WCU DI program, the student may not apply to other FEM, GP, or DI programs.

October 2024 - January 15, 2025

  • Students not accepted during the Fall 2024 early decision application process can reapply to the WCU DI program through WCU Spring Traditional Admission Route (DICAS) in the Spring of 2025 (January 15, 2025 deadline) or reapply through the early acceptance process in the Fall of 2025 (October 1, 2025 deadline).
  • Students may also apply to other DI programs during this time.

By February 14, 2025

  • Accepted early acceptance interns must submit the following documents by February 14, 2025 to DI Director to retain spot in the DI program.
  • Secure site preceptors for community and clinical I rotations using the DI Preceptor Selection and Commitment Form or other method as instructed by DI Director.
  • When contacting potential preceptors, send them the applicable rotation checklist at the bottom of this page. This will inform preceptors of required CRDNs and activities.
  • Submit DI Distance Rotation Schedule Template
  • Submit DPD Statement or DOI statement
  • Submit Recency of Education Form* if DPD was earned 5+ years ago

By End of Spring Semester 2025

  • Accepted early acceptance interns must submit the following documents by the end of the Spring 2025 semester to DI Director to retain spot in the DI program.
  • Secure site preceptors for food service and clinical II rotations using the DI Preceptor Selection and Commitment Form or other method as instructed by DI Director.
  • When contacting potential preceptors, send them the applicable rotation checklist at the bottom of this page. This will inform preceptors of required CRDNs and activities.
