Program Overview
The Master of Science in Geography program at West Chester University is a practical,
applied master’s degree that prepares students for careers in GIS planning, environmental
work, population and site analysis, and related fields. Our program is customized
for each student. The M.S. in Geography is 33-credits, and is tailored to each student’s
interests, prior background, and career aspirations. Our hands-on advising process
gives students individual attention to ensure their interests are met, and that they

What can I do with this degree?
Our graduates are prepared for employment with government agencies such as the EPA, Census Bureau, CIA, and Forestry Service, as well as private sector jobs in geospatial technologies, engineering, and planning firms. Recent graduates are employed in engineering firms, technology companies (including ESRI), the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, public utility companies, local planning agencies, and more. A number of graduates have gone on to complete Ph.D.’s in top graduate programs. Common job titles include:
