B.F.A. in Art: Studio Arts Specialization

Program Overview

The B.F.A. in Art: Studio Arts Specialization cultivates a distinct visual point of view as they prepare for careers as creative professionals. The program begins with a strong foundation in Drawing, 2D, and 3D Design, Color Theory, and Art History, and introduces students to a wide range of skills. Our students learn the value of continued experimentation and dedication to process and craft to ultimately create their best work. Upper-level courses are offered in a variety of disciplines including Ceramics, Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking, where students advance their techniques, increase cultural awareness, and are encouraged to pursue their unique artistic visions.

Program Learning Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate a practicable understanding of the basic elements and principles of design within the foundations.
• Students will acquire essential competencies of the techniques and methods within specialized areas of concentration and show critical thinking and problem solving involved in those processes.
• Students will develop proficiencies in the chosen area of concentration through written, verbal, and visual communication to prepare for lifelong involvement in the applied and fine arts.
• Students will acquire and integrate knowledge of key movements in the history of art, artists, and works of art that are fundamental to their creative development through information literacy and critical thinking in written and verbal formats.
