Campus Restriction

Section is restricted to students admitted to a specific West Chester University Campus (Main, Philadelphia). Review the campus code listed on the course. Contact the department offering the course to inquire about receiving a registration exception/override for the course.

Cohort Restriction

Section is restricted to a specific group of students. Contact the department offering the course to inquire about receiving a registration exception/override for the course.

Class Restriction

Section is restricted to students in a specific classification (senior, junior, etc.). Classification is calculated based on earned credit hours Contact the department offering the course to inquire about receiving a registration exception/override for the course.

Closed Section

Section has reached maximum enrollment capacity.  You can add yourself to the waitlist, if one is available for the course. If you are on the waitlist and a seat becomes available, you will receive an email to your WCU email account. Please be aware, you will be given a set amount of time to register into the course before the next person on the waitlist is offered the seat. If you are graduating this semester and are required to take this course, please contact the department offering this course for a possible solution.

Department Restriction

The department requires all students to receive permission to take this course.  Contact the department offering the course to inquire about receiving a registration permission for the course.

Class cannot be dropped! 

Students are not permitted to drop their last course on RamPortal. Dropping your last course is considered withdrawing from the term/university and required a form to be completed. You must complete the Term and/or Univeristy Withdrawal Request from. Please follow the instructions found here.

Duplicate Section 

You are already registered for another section of the same or equivalent course. You can't be enrolled in two sections of the same course during a semester.  Select courses at the University do allow for students to be enrolled in multiple sections within the same term. Please contact the department offering the course to inquire and assist you with registration.

You have Holds which will prevent registration.

You have a hold on your account that prevents you from registering.  Any holds that prevent registration will need to be taken care of and removed from your RamPortal account before you are permitted to register.  For more information on how to view your holds in RamPortal, please click here.

Level Restriction

You are not permitted to register for courses at a different level (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral)

If you are in an undergraduate accelerated program, please place your request to register here

If you are not in an accelerate program and you are an undergraduate student looking to take an undergraduate course, please complete this form and submit to The Graduate School for approval.

Linked course required 

You have attempted to register for a course that has another required section that is "linked" (usually an additional lecture or lab). You must register for all required courses at the same time. You must register for all required courses (example: LECTURE and LAB) at the same time (meaning in the same registration transaction).

Maximum hours exceeded

You have exceeded the maximum number of credit hours permitted within the term. If you wish to be enrolled in the course, please complete one of the following actions in your RamPortal:
1) Drop a course and add this course to remain at or below full-time status. Note: depending on the number of credits the course is that you are trying to add, you may need to drop two additional courses. 
 2) Request an enrollment overload via the ServiceNow Registration Support form here. Please be aware that to qualify for an overload, undergraduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher to be considered.

Prerequisite, Corequisite and Test Score error

You are currently not meeting the required pre-requisite, co-requisite, or test score required for the course. Please check the class details for the course and review all the requirements listed under the "Prerequisite" tab (from the course search, click on the title of the class to view the class details and then click on the "Prerequisite tab) to make sure you meet all the requirements listed.
Be aware, that if a course indicates "co-requisite", that means you need to be registered for that co-requisite course in the same semester. If you took the co-requisite in a previous semester, or believe that you meet all the listed requirements, contact the department offering the course to inquire about receiving a registration exception/override for the course.

Repeat hours exceeded

You have exceed the maximum number of times you are permitted to repeat this course. Per undergraduate course policy, a single course may not be repeated more than twice. Per graduate course policy, a single course may be repeated only once.
To be able to take this course, you will need to file a petition for exception to policy.

This course, as well as the course waitlist, is full. Please look for another section of the course, or check your Degree Audit to see if you can register for an alternative course that will count towards your degree.

Closed -  Waitlisted

This course is full, so you will need to add yourself to the waitlist, if one is available.  If a waitlist is available and you would like to add yourself, in the Registration summary window in RamPortal, click the dropdown in the "Action" column, and choose "Add to Waitlist". Then, click "Submit". If you wish to remove this course, click "Remove" from the Action column, then click "Submit".
You can also look for another section of the course, or check your Degree Audit to see if you can register for an alternative course that will count towards your degree.

The course appears to have open seats, but those seats have been offered to students on the waitlist and we are awaiting their registration decision. You will need to add yourself to the waitlist. If a waitlist is available and you would like to add yourself, in the Registration summary window in RamPortal, click the dropdown in the "Action" column, and choose "Add to Waitlist". Then, click "Submit".
If the waitlist for the course is full, please look for another section of the course. You can also check your Degree Audit to see if you can register for an alternative course that will count towards your degree.
