WCU Mathematics Colloquium

The WCU Mathematics Colloquium is an ongoing seminar series that is one of the most active in the region. These talks are open to the public and give our graduate students the opportunity to learn about cutting edge research in various areas of mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics. Some talks are from well-known mathematics communicators working to promote the positive aspects of mathematics in society. Most talks are suitable for a general audience. You can find the Colloquium schedule and information for upcoming talks on the WCU Mathematics Colloquium Webpage. If you wish to be added to the WCU Mathematics Colloquium mailing list, please complete this form.

Tetrahedral Geometry and Topology Seminar

West Chester University is an organizing member of the regional TGTS seminar, which is held in collaboration with Millersville University, Lebanon Valley College, Franklin & Marshall College, and Elizabethtwon College. Each month of the Fall and Spring semesters, a research talk in geometry or topology is held at one of the collaborating institutions. Talks are typically held on the first Friday of the month at 4:30 pm. Virtual attendance is also available. Graduate students are encouraged to attend. For details about upcoming talks or to be added to the seminar email list, visit the seminar webpage.

Spring 2025 MAA (EPADEL Section) Meeting, March 29th 2025

Graduate students are encouraged to attend and apply to give a talk at the one-day Spring 2025 EPADEL Conference held at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA. Visit the Conference Webpage to register or apply to give a talk.

Binghamton University Graduate Combinatorics, Algebra, Topology (BUGCAT) Conference

BUGCAT is a graduate student conference held at Binghamton University each year in November. This conference is great for presenting masters thesis-level work in one of the conference areas, seeing what kind of research PhD students are doing, or for attending as a first research conference experience. Visit the conference webpage for more information.

West Chester Mathematics Award Ceremony, November 10th, 2024

Each year the Mathematics Department presents scholarships to West Chester students. This year, over $60,000 from the department endowment was given in scholarships to our students! The Viorel Nitica Mathematics Scholarship, in honor of our late colleague, is awarded to a top student in the mathematics graduate program with preference given to students participating in mathematics research.  This year, the Nitica scholarship was presented to Johnathan Makar (Applied and Computational Mathematics). Congratulations Johnathan!
